Roller Blinds vs Roman Blinds: Which Is Right for Your Room?

Both roller blinds and roman blinds cover a window and block light. Beyond that, they’re quite different – and choosing the wrong one for a room is the kind of thing that niggles at you every day. Here’s a clear comparison.

What’s the difference?

Roller blinds are the simpler mechanism: a single piece of fabric rolled around a tube at the top, raised and lowered with a chain or spring. Clean lines, very modern in feel.

Roman blinds use a series of horizontal rods sewn into the back of the fabric. When you pull the cord, the blind folds up into neat pleats. It’s a softer, more traditional look.
